Contest 1:00pm-3:00pm

Our inaugural Callapalooza Cut Down Challenge is not your average Calling contest. It is a test of skills in both calling and cutting/tuning. Each contestant will schedule a time prior to the competition, where he or she will be given an insert to cut/tune at RNT Calls. The allotted time per contestant is 1 hour. The insert will have the profile of a standard keyhole PS Olt Duck Call. Both insert an barrel will be provided by RNT Calls.

Tools are limited to 3 grades of sandpaper, scotchbrite, a file, and a sanding board. All tools will be provided by RNT Calls. No jigs are to be used. Each contestant will have to perform all work at RNT Calls, in a designated room under supervision. Once the allotted time has expired, the insert will be tagged and turned into RNT Calls until the day before the calling competition.

The day before the actual calling contest, each contestant will be given 15 minutes on stage to call or make any adjustments to their call. The call will once again be turned into RNT Calls. The contest itself will run like a standard calling contest and consist of 3 rounds with Olympic style scoring.

All calls will be kept in a case on stage. As the contestant walks on stage, he or she will get their call out of the case, compete, then return their call to the case as they leave the stage. This process will be the same for all 3 rounds.

After a winner has been selected all 12 calls will be put into an auction with the proceeds going to the Callmakers and Collectors Association of America.

The contest is limited to 12 competitors and is invitation only.

Site & Lodging Information

Callapalooza is almost here.  It’s shaping up to be a great one! We are very excited about all the new events we have added throughout the week, as well as all the callmakers and vendors that will be participating this year. We have grouped the Callapalooza lot into three separate villages or areas this year to accommodate all of our callmakers, collectors, and vendors.

There will be respectively a Collectors village, a Callmakers Village, and a Vendors Village.

Collectors tables are first come first served each day of the event. Call-maker and vendor tents must be reserved in advance. The “Lot” is made up of various Pop-up tents in coordination with use of our wrap around covered porch, creating an exciting “Festival” atmosphere. The Lot hours are posted above and a list of exhibiting Callapalooza partners are below. We will continue to update this list as callmakers and vendors register. Come out and see us!
