Founders Day Call – Ferrari Red Acrylic
Couldn't load pickup availability
Honor Butch Richenback’s birthday and Founder’s Day with a faithful remake of his very first 1976 design. It was smaller than today’s calls and had a classic shape influenced by his Uncle Clyde Hancock, duck call maker and 2-time world champion in the 1940s. This call had a 1/4” bore, which produced a quiet sound, but what a sweet sound.
We took this classic ’70s design and gave it a modern upgrade. Butch Richenback x John Stephens.
“ This is one of my favorite call designs and shapes that Butch had ever made. It screams the influence of his uncle Clyde while putting his own twist on it. I thought it would be a really cool idea to celebrate his birthday by bringing this call back and letting me put my twist on the sound, to give it a little modern upgrade. So even though the call is turned and milled on cnc machine, I then take the call and bore it out, to give it more punch and volume without losing backpressure. To give it a little more of an aggressive style, I was able to put it in my jig and file off some of the areas that sat high in my jig. It’s not totally like cutting and jigging one out by hand, but the bore is being modified and the toneboard is being fine-tuned on a jig. So it's kind of like a modified hot rod.”
